So foreign energy can be something as small as a negative thought form that has been attracted (as like attracts like) by our negative thoughts, or as full blown as a dark and possessing disincarnate spirit that has access to us due to some gaping wound from the past which left us wide open and vulnerable. (Or perhaps from us not being fully present and grounded in our body so that “it” has opportunity to take over because "nobody’s home"). Excessive drugs and/or alcohol use can leave someone open to this bigger/nastier type of energy as well. And why is this? Because the person who is moved to excessive consumption of drugs and/or alcohol is choosing to do so versus staying fully present in their body. People also need to be careful whenever they delve into the occult or other-dimensional realms to make sure that they are not "opening the door" to some other energy that wants to come in and perhaps even take over. However, the majority of foreign energies I find present in people’s auric field do not seem to be such individualized entities with any inherent intelligence of their own. But this does not mean that there are not plenty of them "out and about".
So when I check someone during a reading or evaluation of the chakras in all 4 layers of the aura, I also always check for the presence of of foreign energy. And if I find any foreign energy present, I clear it (have it recycled so it cannot return), then balance the person to the issue/wound that attracted it to them in the first place. There have been a number of occasions when I have needed to do this for myself as well. Some people, as mentioned above, seem more susceptible than others; but we are all susceptible to foreign energy at one time or another. A positive way of looking at this phenomenon, which on the surface may not seem so positive, is that the presence of foreign energy is actually a blessing (a gift from Heaven, if you will). For it is providing us with a great opportunity to tune-in, deal with, and heal the wound that is surfacing and attracting such energy.
We can be particularly susceptible to foreign energy after undergoing a big change, such as having a huge leap or breakthrough in our growth and healing. This can be measured by an increase in the presence of our chakra energy (after ESR - Inner Opening Technique™, for example). Until we adjust to our "new self", we have stepped out of some of our "old self"--armor that has not only limited us, but protected us as well. It's like reaching a new plateau of existence that requires us to get our bearings; our new legs might be a bit wobbly at first. This is all just part of growth, healing and change, which all go together. But the predatory elements that are out and about will not only go for the weak, wounded and infirm. They like the fledglings as well. So we need to remember to give ourselves the necessary space and not push ourselves too much, too hard or too fast after such big growth spurts. If we do, and thus become susceptible to some form of foreign energy, we may have to take the time to clear it or have it cleared for us (much like we have to deal with having a cold).
The usual signs and symptoms of having a foreign energy present is simply not feeling like our self, or being unduly anxious, uneasy, irritable or impatient for no apparent reason (sometimes feeling as if we are "chewing on nails"). It usually just takes a few focused minutes or so to check in and clear our self of such unwanted energy, or have someone else do it for us if we are not able. And if this is the case (having some sort of foreign energy present), it is well worth the time spent to clear it or to have it cleared. It can be helpful to remember that it's not necessarily good or bad (black or white), so it is best if we don’t react or become fearful, or like a victim. It is simply a part of life... like needing to take out the stinking garbage.
