Level I - Foundations to Body Math™: In Depth

Course Overview

This workshop will focus on the foundational principles and practices for the Body Math™ system of healing. Specifically, students will learn the basic functions and location of all 12 chakras, including their significance and meaning in each level or body (physical, emotional, mental and spiritual). The nature and function of each of these four levels or bodies of the electromagnetic field (aura) will be presented. How to ground one's vital life-force from one's spiritual chakra(s) into all four bodies will be shown. Structural (on-body) assessment of restrictions physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually will be introduced as well as giving the significance of restrictions found in each body or level. How to treat the restrictions found in each level will be shown, including how to use the chakra energy to help heal a given restriction. Exercises will be shown designed to help increase the flow of the vital life-force throughout one's body. Key evaluation and treatment approach from Barralâs Visceral Manipulation will be introduced and practiced. This course will provide the foundation for a level-2 workshop in Body Math™ to include manual thermal diagnosis (off-body assessment) of the aura and chakras on all four levels, as well as more advanced methods for treating. This Foundations to Body Mathú seminar is the prerequisite for the level-2 workshop, called Body Math™.

Approach

This workshop will draw strongly from techniques from French osteopathy. How to "listen" to what the tissue is telling one's hands as well as inhibitory balance techniques to discover the hierarchy of restrictions established by the body will be taught. Students will thus learn how the tissue can reveal where, what and how to treat; thereby not coming to a treatment session with any preconceived ideas of what needs to be done in that session or for a given diagnosis. By letting the client's subjective complaints take more of a back seat, this approach allows for the client's four bodies to "speak" directly to our hands. Thus the focus will be more on discovering the deeper root or cause of a problem versus simply treating symptoms. By treating the specific cause (which may be found in any or all of the four bodies), the related symptoms will typically resolve. This empirical approach allows treatment sessions to be much more creative, versus coming from well-rehearsed protocols and recipes of symptoms and diagnosis. And vital information from the tissue is not lost through being screened by the filters of our preconceptions telling us what we should find.

Therapeutic Methods and Principles are Drawn From:

  • Visceral Manipulation
  • Chakra Healing
  • Guided Imagery
  • Inhibitory Balancing
  • Myofascial Mapping
  • Polarity Therapy
  • Qi Gong
  • Grounding
  • Yin and Yang

Some of these approaches are included for:

  • The wholistic theories that they embrace
  • Developing hand skills for assessing the subtle energetic nature of restrictions
  • Looking at multidimensional influences (i.e. mind & emotions affect on physical structure)
  • Opening blocked sensory pathways within the participants of the workshop
  • Demonstrating the interrelationship between the different parts to the whole
  • Looking at relationships between the 4 bodies and between structure and function within them

If participants have had some prior training in any of the above approaches, they will still find the focus and context of each presented to be quite different than in a given course of study in any of the above therapies. This class is about doing the work, not just learning more techniques.

Participants are expected to be willing to look inward at how we hold our own restrictions in order to better understand how we relate to others, thus learning how our own bodies can become the best assessment tool we have, and the importance of self-healing first and foremost. For as we become more whole ourselves, we are then better able to help others.
